What is the current progress in MoreAdaptBSB and why does it matter?

MoreAdaptBSB

The MoreAdaptBSB project aims to help coastal regions of the Black Sea Basin adapt to climate change through the implementation of nature-based solutions (NbS). But before we act, we must first understand the risks.

During this initial phase, partners from Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Ukraine collected crucial environmental information from their pilot sites — including land use, topography, water availability, vegetation cover, flood and drought risks, and more.

All this information was analysed in depth to better understand:

• which areas are most vulnerable to climate threats;
• where nature-based interventions can be most effective;
• and how to design the next phase of climate adaptation actions.

The Via Pontica Foundation played a key role in coordinating this process and developing the harmonised methodology used by all partners — ensuring consistency and comparability of results across the entire region.
